- Applicants must be of the Eastern Orthodox faith (within the jurisdiction of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America) and U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
- They must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and an SAT score of at least 1000 (or an equivalent score on the ACT).
- Preference is given to applicants who are orphans.
- Selection is based on an essay on their reasons for applying for this scholarship, transcripts, letters of recommendation, honors and awards, special skills, extracurricular participation (especially in church activities), and financial need.
